Display Resolution RECOMMENDED: 800 x 600px NOTE: Changing your screen resolution is not *required*, but it will offer you the best display of the information.
Windows Users: To change your resolution to 800 x 600 (pixels) - you have to change the display settings in the control panel. To access the control panel: Click Start >> Settings >> Control Panel
In the Control Panel, double-click the display icon. In the Display properties window,
click the settings tab. On the settings screen you will see an option
labelled "screen area" - this option lets you toggle the resolution of
your monitor. To change the resolution, move the slider until you see
800 x 600 (or
more) as the resolution. The change in resolution will not
take place until you click "OK", or
"APPLY". Note: Your monitor may not be able to support 800 x 600 screen resolution for one of two reasons.
Display Colors RECOMMENDED: 16-bit Color Windows Users: Changing the color depth of your monitor is similar to changing the resolution. You have to change the display settings in the control panel. To access the control panel: Click Start >> Settings >> Control Panel In the Control Panel, double-click the display icon. In the Display properties window, click the settings tab. On the settings screen is a display option labelled "colors" - this option lets you toggle the color depth (or amount of colors) displayed on your screen.
To change the color depth, click in the drop down window and select "High Color (16 bit)", or you may choose a higher color depth (True Color, etc) if your video card and monitor supports it. This setting change will not take place instantly, as you have to click "OK" or "Apply" for it to take place. There is a faster, and more convenient way of changing your monitor's display. Right-click anywhere on your desktop (make sure you do not right-click in an open window), and select properties. You are now in the Display properties window, where you can click the settings tab and follow the remaining instructions (as mentioned above). NOTE: Your monitor may not be able to support 16 bit color for one of two reasons:
Installing the Acrobat Reader The CD includes special files that allow you to view a course as a document and you can even print it so that you can use it like a book. These special files are called .pdf and the CD also includes the Adobe Acrobat reader which is the software that is used to open, read, and print these .pdf files. To access and install the reader: Double-Click My Computer, and double click the CD drive (usually D: or E:). Once the contents of the TrainingTools.com CD are displayed, double-click the Acrobat folder. Depending on the operating system you are using, double-click into Windows, Mac (Macintosh) or Unix to access the proper version of Acrobat Reader. Windows Users: Unix Users: Mac Users:
Printing in Acrobat When printing in Acrobat, note that the page numbers located at the bottom of each page do not correspond with the total number of pages that will be printed. For example - the course may have a total of 250 pages (when looking at the index), but when printed it turns out to be 270. Acrobat will inform you, when you print, how many total pages will turn out. Therefore, if you wanted to print a certain chapter from the courseware,
use the page designations located in the bottom left hand corner of the
reader window - not the page designations located in the course itself.
The on-line courses use JavaScript to work properly in your browser. You can ensure that JavaScript is "turned-on" in your browser:
Netscape Communicator 3.x and above: Click Edit and then Preferences. In the Preferences window, select the "advanced" option.
In the advanced window, make sure that enable Java and enable JavaScript are checked (meaning there is a check-mark in the box).
This change will not take place until you click "OK". Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.x and above: Click Tools in the menu bar - then select Internet Options. Select the Security tab.
Click the Custom Level button. Scroll down to the "Scripting" Options. In the Scripting section is an option titled "Active Scripting". Make sure that Active Scripting is enabled, and not disabled.
If Active Scripting is disabled, click the "enabled" radio button. This change will not take place until you click "OK".
Current
versions of each browser are included on the CD. To install... © 2001 Trainingtools.com |
