Movie Clips are animated Symbols.  Each Symbol has its own Timeline on which you can animate Instances from other Symbols.  When you place a Movie Clip Instance on the Stage, the animation can play in a single frame on the Timeline.  Movie Clips are an important element in creating animations, buttons, and interactivity.
